At Red’s Transfer, Local moves are considered any move that is less than 40 miles between your current residence and your new residence. Local moves are charged on an hourly basis, which varies depending upon the number of crew members and vehicles required to safely and efficiently move your belongings.
Current Local Rates:
2 Men and 1 Truck: $157.00 per hour
3 Men and 1 Truck: $217.00 per hour
* A one-time trip charge of $50.00 is applied to all moves.
* Additional men are $60/hour
* Overtime Rates applied during the weekend
The notice required to schedule your local move depends on the time of year and the time of month you are moving. Many times we can schedule your move with 2 or 3 days of notice and a 3 week notice is preferred and will allow you to get the date and time you prefer.
Please note: April through October are our busiest months, but we do our best to accommodate all requests.
LET’S GET READY
Before your belongings can be safely moved, small fragile items must be packed into cartons. Red’s Transfer cannot be responsible for moving fragile items such as electronics, lamps and shades, mirrors, pictures and other small fragile household items unless they are properly packed. You may hire a Red’s packing team to do this, or you can do the packing yourself. Should you choose to do this yourself you need to use durable cartons that are sealed with tape or have lids. All cartons need to be flat on top and be stackable. The cartons should be packed to the top and be able to withstand the weight of comparable cartons stacked on top of it. Though it is not recommended, you may plastic totes, especially if you already have seasonal items and other household items packed.
Red’s Transfer has packing materials available for all of your packing needs. You may pick them up or have them delivered. The cost of the cartons varies by size and strength.
If you would like a Red’s packing team to help you with your packing, you need to let us know in advance so we can bring the required packing material with us, and allow for the proper amount of time to complete packing and perform the moving services.
The time is charged from the time the crew leaves our warehouse until they return. 2 person crews are generally used for moves consisting of less than 50 large items. 3 and 4 person crews are used when small items and boxes are included in the move. Larger 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes usually require 3 – 4 person crews and sometimes additional vehicles depending on volume and access to your residence. Many times a larger crew will cost the same as a smaller crew due to the increased speed and efficiency.
Additional Items That Should Be Done Before Your Moving Crew Arrives:
Set aside any personal items you may need or that you don't want the movers to handle.
Remove any small items from the top of any furniture that is to be moved.
Disassemble any items that are constructed of particle board materials.
Remove and pack any items from desk drawers, lateral file cabinets, china cabinets, hutches, etc. (clothing and soft items may remain in dresser drawers)
Empty and clean out your refrigerator and upright freezer. Many times chest freezers can be moved with the contents inside. Check with Red's to see if this applies to your situation.
Disconnect appliances and electronics from their wall connections.
Empty fuel from gas powered equipment.
Set aside any cleaning items you'll be using during or after your move.
Move any vehicles that may be blocked in by the moving van.
Money Saving Tips
HERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU MAY CHOOSE TO DO YOURSELF:
Disassemble the beds.
Remove mirrors from dressers.
Disassemble any exercise equipment.
Stack cartons of similar sizes in stacks about 4 feet high.
Stack the boxes in the garage.
Remove items from attics and crawl spaces.
Take small items in your own vehicle.

Have a clear plan of where you want items placed in your new residence.
Red’s Transfer employees are trained professionals who are careful and efficient. The more prepared you are before we arrive, the less time it will take and the less the move will cost.

HERE ARE A FEW ITEMS WE CANNOT DO BECAUSE OF LIABILITY ISSUES:
Transport propane tanks, flammables, combustibles, aerosols, corrosives and toxic cleaning solvents
Transport ammunition, reloading primers and gun powders
Disconnect/reconnect washer, dryer and refrigerators from their wall connections
Disassemble, drain or reassemble water beds
Move any items with visible rodent or pest infestation
Move any items deemed perishable
Perform the move if roadways, driveways, sidewalk or steps are not cleared of ice and snow
